The Kensa icon: a small robot holding a magnifying glass.

Kensa

A fast and highly opinionated command palette for macOS.

A simple app launcher, supporting quicklinks, conversions and calculations. Also basic window management.

Version 26.9.3 · macOS 26+ Download for macOS

A signed, notarized download for macOS 26 or later.

The Kensa palette with “cal” typed in it. Notion Calendar, Calendar and Calculator are listed, the first one selected and marked Open.

Summon it with ⌥ Space or map it to any other key combo.

App launcher

Fuzzy search over every app on your Mac. It remembers what you pick, so the apps you use most come up first.

Quicklinks

Short aliases for the sites you open a lot. “gh” opens GitHub, “gh swift” searches it, without leaving the palette.

Calculator

Math, unit and currency conversion in the palette itself. The result updates while you type, and Enter copies it.

Window actions

Center the focused window, or let it fill the screen minus a margin. Two actions, no grid and no layout manager.

No account, no sync, no plugin store, no telemetry, no API key. Out of the box it asks for no permissions at all. Only the window actions and the light/dark switch need one, and both ship switched off.

It is built the way I want to work, which may not be the way you work. Plenty of other launchers do more, and let you set them up your own way.
